Iryna Bilous, the Head of the Handwriting Department of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of Ukraine, had a communication with journalists and told them about the features of conducting the handwriting research.
The communication took place within the framework of the preparation of the quest museum “Effectiveness of the Signature”. The goal of the project is to tell the audience, in an interactive format, the importance of a signature, how it can change the fate of one person, and sometimes the whole world.
The specialist said that the main task of the handwriting expert is to identify the performer of the handwritten text, limited in volume of handwritten notes (alphanumeric and digital) and signature. Handwriting examination also solves some non-identification tasks, namely: establishing the fact of the manuscript being executed in unusual conditions or in the unusual state of the performer, intentionally changed handwriting, imitating another person’s signature, determining the sex of the performer, as well as his/her age group etc.
Within the project, visitors will also be able to learn the history of the signature. It represents history from the Sumerians to the present days; it is also allowing to feel his/himself at the place of an expert and to try to do handwriting research, to visit the library with books that tell about the signing of the most important documents in the history of humankind and the fate of their authors.
