December 20, 2021, Chief Forensic Expert of the Cherkasy Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise Naumenko O. V. took part in a training and practical workshop held at the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office with the participation of representatives of law enforcement agencies and state bodies of the region that care for children’s rights.
The purpose of the workshop is to increase the level of professional knowledge, practical skills of juvenile prosecutors, and investigators during the pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings on criminal offences involving children, working out the mechanism of interaction between specialists of free secondary legal aid, guardianship, social protection, expert institutions.
During the workshop, the participants were reminded that child-friendly justice is possible with proper specialization, knowledge and practical skills of professionals who work with children. It is important that for everyone involved in the juvenile justice system, the child and his or her interests are decisive, whether the offender or the victim.
In the speech, Naumenko O. V. pointed out the typical violations of the law, construction norms, standards and rules during new construction, reconstruction and overhaul of facilities or structures, which are solved by construction and technical examinations. The expert drew attention to the characteristic mistakes made by investigators (prosecutors) in the appointment of forensic construction and technical expertise in criminal proceedings in the field of child protection.
