Participation of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise in the round table “Development of environmental forensic examination is a necessary task in environmental protection”

On September 30, 2022, the National Forensic Center of the Republic of Moldova hosted a round table “Development of environmental forensic examination is a necessary task in environmental protection”. The round table was organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova together with the National Center of Forensic Examinations of the Republic of Moldova. Co-organizers of the conference were also the UN representation in the Republic of Moldova, the University of Professional Training of Wroclaw (Poland), „Babeș-Bolyai” University (Romania) and the Swedish embassy in Moldova. Partners of the round table were the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Kirovohrad Research Expert and Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, National Scientific Center “Hon. Prof. M.S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute”, Chemistry Institute of the Republic of Moldova, State University of Moldova, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies.

The event was opened by Serhii Litvinenko, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Moldova and Olga Kataraga, Director of the National Forensic Center of the Republic of Moldova. Oleksandr Ruvin, director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, addressed the participants with a welcome speech, where he drew attention to the relevance of the discussed topics and wished the participants of the round table interesting reports and fruitful work. Oleg Baulin, Head of the Scientific Activity and International Cooperation Department, and Oleksandr Zherebko, Head of the Regulatory and Methodological Activity and Standardization Department.

The event was organized with the aim of exchanging opinions and best practices of those present and participants of the round table regarding the use of environmental expertise in the judicial process. The main topic of the speeches was the analysis and expansion of knowledge, problems related to the use of environmental expertise in the judicial process, and all the obstacles and difficulties faced by both official bodies and forensic experts.
