Official visit of the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine

On November 02, 2023, the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, paid an official visit to the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. The Minister was accompanied by the Team Leader of the expert group Royal Marehaussee, the ICC Forensic Coordinator; the International Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court and senior officials of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine. The meeting was also attended by Andriy Haichenko, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine.

Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, briefed KAISE Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Kajsa Ollongren on the activities of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, emphasizing that today the experts’ work is primarily focused on performing forensic examinations to investigate Russian crimes in Ukraine.

The collected evidence of the russian federation’s aggression on the territory of Ukraine, which is being or has been subject to forensic examination, was demonstrated, as well as the research conducted on the MH-17 flight, which crashed in 2014 in Donbas due to the downing of the Buk missile system. There was also a demonstration of 3D mapping and the results of examinations of digital forensics objects.

During the meeting, Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Kajsa Ollongren emphasized that the Netherlands will increase its support for Ukraine and will do everything possible to bring to justice all those responsible for crimes committed in Ukraine. In addition, it should be noted that the visit of the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands took place during the mission of experts of the International Criminal Court (The Hague, the Netherlands), who cooperate with the experts of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.
