On April 25, 2023, on the basis of the National Police in the Kirovohrad Oblast, experts of the Kropyvnytskyi Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise held a seminar on the topic “Peculiarities of preparation of materials and objects of research during the appointment of transport, commodity and engineering and transport examinations during the investigation of traffic accidents” with investigators of the department for investigating crimes in the field of transport.
Viktor Davydchenko, Deputy Head of the Kropyvnytskyi Branch of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, spoke about the types of examinations related to the investigation of crimes in the field of transport conducted by the specialists of the department. The problematic issues arising during the appointment and conduct of forensic examinations were discussed.
Heorhii Hrihor, the Chief Forensic Expert of the Kropyvnytskyi Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise drew the attention of investigators to the errors that arise when filling out the scheme of a traffic accident, spoke about methods for determining the rounding and radius of the road surface, determining the angle of ascent/descent of the road surface. The issue of data collection and preparation of materials necessary for forensic examinations of the circumstances and mechanism of a traffic accident was also discussed.
Viktor Honchar, Leading Forensic Expert of the Kropyvnytskyi Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise spoke about the preparation of materials for transport and commodity examination and the peculiarities of the examination in case of impossibility to provide the object of study.
The seminar was held in the form of a dialogue, where investigators had the opportunity to ask questions to experts and received comprehensive answers to the questions posed. This format of seminars effectively promotes the exchange of experience and ensures a fruitful discussion between participants.
