Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise held a scientific and practical workshop “Topical issues of forensic expertise in Ukraine”

On April 21, 2023, the Laboratory of Economic Research of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise held a scientific and practical workshop on the topic “Topical issues of forensic expertise in Ukraine”. The workshop was held via videoconference with the participation of experts from the Laboratory of Economic Research and expert economists of the departments of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.

Olha Lukova, Head of the Laboratory of Economic Research, Ph.D. in Economics was the moderator of the workshop.

Within the framework of the scientific and practical workshop, Maryna Rudaia, Leading Researcher of the Laboratory of Economic Research, Candidate of Economic Sciences, and Senior Researcher, in her report summarized the main changes to some regulatory legal acts on forensic science in 2021-2023, and focused on the approved “Methodology for determining the damage and amount of losses caused to enterprises, institutions and organizations of all forms of ownership as a result of the destruction and damage to their property in connection with the armed aggression of the russian federation, as well as lost profits from impossibility or obstacles in conducting economic activities”, which was approved by the joint order of the Ministry of Economy and the State Property Fund of Ukraine dated October 18, 2022 No. 3904/1223 in agreement with the Ministry for Reintegration and registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on December 2, 2022, under No. 1522/38858.

At the workshop, Mykhailo Poliennikov, a Leading Researcher at the Laboratory of Economic Research, Candidate of Economic Sciences, revealed the features and methodological principles of assessing (determining the amount) of lost profits (lost profits) caused to enterprises, institutions and organizations of all forms of ownership as a result of the destruction and damage to their property in connection with the armed aggression of the russian federation and drew attention to the introduction of common approaches to forensic examinations.

According to the results of the scientific and practical workshop, it was decided to continue the discussion of the practical application of the discussed methods in the conclusions of experts.
