Yurii Lutsenko, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of KFI and Jose Manuel Colodras, EU-ACT Regional Coordinator, held a working meeting on combating drug trafficking in Ukraine

Yurii Lutsenko, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and Jose Manuel Colodras, Regional Coordinator of the project “EU Action against Drugs and Organized Crime (EU-Act)” held a working meeting on combating drug trafficking in Ukraine.

The meeting was held on the initiative of Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise in order to unite the efforts of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, Ukrainian and foreign experts in combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Ukraine is identified as one of the priority countries for cooperation under the EU project “EU Action against Drugs and Organized Crime”, which aims to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of cooperation between the bodies responsible for combating drug traffics and organized crime in the countries participating in the project.

The meeting participants discussed the situation with expert institutions, examining narcotic drugs (in particular, capabilities and capacities of expert laboratories that were previously assessed on the basis of EU norms and leading practices), as well as possible steps to implement the recommendations of the EU expert in this field.

The results of the meeting will be taken into account during the meeting of the working group with the participation of all interested national and international parties; the meeting is scheduled for September 13-14, 2018.
