An internal workshop was held at the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on the topic “Analysis of forensic practice on the application by enterprises of the norms of International Financial Reporting Standards”.
The event was attended by forensic experts of the Laboratory of Economics Research and experts from the relevant Branches of KFI.
Speakers Kateryna Proskura and Tetiana Paientko presented to the audience the report “Practice of inspections by regulatory bodies on the correctness of applying International Financial Reporting Standards by enterprises” and “Tax consequences of applying International Financial Reporting Standards: sources of conflicts with tax authorities”.
The presentations covered the following issues:
- General analysis of the norms of International Financial Reporting Standards, consideration of IFRS norms that are not covered by the differences of the Tax Code and cause inconsistencies in audits between enterprises and regulatory authorities;
- Analysis of issues arising from conducting a forensic economic examination;
- Discussion of issues that have recently arisen in expert practice related to the interpretation of IFRS by supervising bodies and their application by enterprises;
- General issues on the design of expert opinion/expert research.
In general, the event contributed to improving the skills of specialists in the field of economic research of KFI, systematizing the experience of forensic practice in the application by enterprises of the norms of International Financial Reporting Standards and a joint search for solutions to problematic issues.
