At the request of journalists of “Ukraine” TV channel, experts from the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine spoke about the features of the technical examination of documents and the study of banknotes.
Media representatives during a conversation with the chief forensic expert of the Questioned Document Examination Department Serhii Naumenko noted that it is quite difficult for an ordinary citizen to distinguish fake banknotes from real ones, because their quality is quite high and this requires special equipment and skills.
At the same time, the expert noted that detailed information on descriptions of all national currency banknotes in circulation and their security features is available on the official website of the National Bank. After reading it, you can get basic knowledge on the identification of fakes.
NBU statistics indicate that the fake banknotes of the national currency withdrawn from circulation were mainly printed using printers and were designed for the citizens and cashiers of trade enterprises.
That is why the forensic expert advised citizens to pay attention to the elements of protection, they are namely: watermarks, protective tape, embossed and through elements, latent images.
