During the preparation of the plot for the program «Kyiv. Weekly», the experts of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise arranged a tour for journalists, as well as told about the peculiarities of their work.
Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, showed the museum of the Institute, which has an exclusive collection of forensics’ items, as well as told about the most high-profile cases in which the staff of Institute conducted expert research.
In the Questioned Document Examination Department, journalists were shown how to restore the contents of burned checks. In addition, Victoriia Kulykovska, the Head of the Department told about an interesting forensic examination of a forged birth certificate.
Kovalchuk Liudmyla, a leading forensic expert of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, spoke about the peculiarities of the study of food, alcoholic beverages, etc. She also pointed out how the examination helped to establish the facts in the investigation of the theft of sugar.
Serhii Sichkar, senior forensic expert demonstrated to the journalists the principle of operation of a smoking machine, which in the system of expert institutions of the Ministry of Justice is available only in the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.
Ostap Savenok, forensic expert of the Materials, Substances and Products Research Department told about the study of asphalt pavement, which is conducted at the Institute.
