On the basis of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, a meeting of the staff was held and the summing up the results of activities for the first half of the year 2018.
Oleksandr Ruvin, the Director of the Institute, presented the analytical materials to the heads of structural divisions and regional branches on the main indicators of the number of forensic examinations and expert studies carried out, the development of new research areas, and the receipt of materials for forensic examinations in the context of the bodies that appointed them.
During the reporting period about 25,000 forensic examinations and expert studies were carried out by specialists of KFI. The total number of examinations performed on materials of criminal proceedings and cases of administrative violations amounted to 72% of the total number of completed examinations.
According to the results of work for 6 months of 2018, Laboratory of Forensic Research was recognized as the best laboratory of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and the Vinnytsia Branch of KFI received the highest ranking among the Branches.
Tatiana Holikova, Deputy Director, drew attention to the changes in legislation, the need for their constant monitoring and thorough study. We should remind that in its activity the Institute is guided by the Constitution of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine “On Forensic Expertise”, the Law of Ukraine “On Scientific and Scientific and Technical Activities”, procedural legislation and other laws of Ukraine, decrees of the President of Ukraine, decrees and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, orders of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, other regulatory and legal acts.
Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director, reported on the state of scientific and methodological, editorial, publishing and international work. So, for the first half of the year 2018, experts from Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise published more than 90 scientific articles, more than 40 scientific events were attended by experts of the Institute, including conferences, seminars, round tables, briefings etc.
The position of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise concerning the development of international cooperation remains unchanged. Forensic experts of KFI actively participate in the meetings of the working groups of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI), establish cooperation with leading forensic laboratories in the world, adopt the experience of modern methods of work of foreign colleagues and use innovative equipment.
Among the recent international scientific and practical events attended by experts from KFI, is the meeting of the working group on the investigation of the fire and explosions of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI), 18th Symposium of Questioned Document Examination in Wroclaw, a working meeting of the participants of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) on drugs, etc.
The solemn part of the event was the awarding of the employees of KFI with Certificates of Honor and Certificates of Gratitude for diligent work, high professionalism, and a significant contribution to the development of expert support of the justice of Ukraine.
As a result of the meeting, the Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, Oleksandr Ruvin, thanked the staff for their work, wished creative inspiration, wished do not stop at what had been achieved and develop for the realization of future goals.
