Experts of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise together with representatives of the Military Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will conduct an investigative experiment to determine the causes of ammunition detonation at an arsenal near the Kalynivka town, Vinnytsia oblast.
The planned investigative experiment will make it possible to reproduce the events and, above all, to find out the causes of these explosions. In addition, experts will explore all possible options and mechanisms for the blasting ammunition. The experiment will be recorded in a procedural way, after which the experts of the KFI will continue to study, research and analyze data on photos and video materials.
According to Oleksandr Ruvin, the director of KFI, the specialists of the Institute have considerable experience in conducting such studies. Previously, the experts from KFI carried out comprehensive studies to find out the circumstances and causes of explosions and fires in military warehouses near Svatovo, Lozova and Balakliia.
In general, forensic technical expertise, like all other forensic examinations, is conducted exclusively by specialists of specialized state expert institutions (units) that have the appropriate staff of specialists and the equipment necessary for such expertise. In addition, in the framework of explosive expert studies, explosive devices and their parts and fragments can be examined, as well as the expertise of explosives and their tracks, or examination of circumstances and the site of the explosion.
