The defining imperative of the work of various branches of activity is modernization and an innovative way of development. The most important component of these processes is a breakthrough in the scientific and technological sphere. Criteria of professionalism and innovation are becoming more and more important when ranking countries in the international society.
Recently, Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise has made a significant step forward in capacity development. Joining the European Network of Forensic Science Institutions (ENFSI) gave the opportunity to the specialists of KFI to participate in the relevant working groups, share their experience with foreign colleagues and implement the best European practices. An important factor in the implementation of joint international forensic work, the reduction in the timing of forensic expertise and expert studies is the availability of appropriate material and technical base. Planning of material and technical support determines the optimal requirements for ensuring the operational and professional activities of forensic experts.
In order to monitor the latest trends in the development of modern equipment of specialized laboratories, the director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, Oleksandr Ruvin and the specialists of the Research Department for Materials, Substances and Products of KFI visited the first practical forum “Laboratory: Innovations and Applied Solutions”.
The event brought together heads and directors of specialized expert institutions, heads of laboratories and quality specialists who are ready to implement innovative solutions in Ukrainian laboratories.
The forum gave an opportunity to be present at the testing of innovative devices, including their samples, thoroughly study the equipment, discuss with colleagues the advantages and disadvantages of using devices from different manufacturers, and obtain a reasoned decision about the practical necessity of introducing innovative technologies in laboratories of enterprises and organizations.
According to Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of Kyiv Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, the high scientific, material and technical level of modern forensic expertise, the professionalism and organization of the work of experts, the provision of equipment of the appropriate level, objectively raise the role and importance of forensic expertise, in particular, to ensure the activities of law enforcement bodies and courts.
The conclusions of the forensic experts are of equal procedural importance with other evidence in the course of the proceedings. The effectiveness of the fight against crime in the state essentially depends on the organization and work of forensic expert activity.
