On June 30, 2022, on the basis of the Research Center for Forensic Expertise on Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the international scientific and methodological seminar was held on the topic: “What should be the Methodology for expert research of industrial designs in Ukraine during the reform of legal protection of intellectual property?”. The seminar was held in an online format.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Bureau of Forensic Expertise of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the Research Institute of Intellectual Property of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, research institutions of forensic examination of the Ministry of Justice, the National Association of Patent Attorneys, and the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine, etc.
Nataliia Klymova, forensic expert of the Department of Commodity Research and Research of Objects of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise took part in this event.
The purpose of the seminar was to form, with the participation of stakeholders, key theoretical and methodological and practical-applied provisions of the Methodology for the study of industrial designs, in the context of innovations introduced into the Law of Ukraine “On Legal Protection for Industrial Designs” and other regulatory legal acts in the process of reforming the legal protection of intellectual property objects.
The participants of the seminar discussed the novelties of the Law of Ukraine “On protection of rights to industrial designs” and other normative legal acts and methodological foundations of expert research of industrial designs, features of expert research of unregistered industrial design, determination of the scope of the legal protection of registered industrial design in the process of expert research, determination of novelty and individual nature of industrial design in the process of expert research, features methods of expert research of industrial designs in the context of reform in the field of intellectual property.
The proposals made by the seminar speakers will be considered at the conclusion of the Scientific and Research Report on the Methodology of expert research of industrial designs. Measures of this format are extremely important since this format of conduct allows specialists in this industry to hold a fruitful discussions and discuss pressing issues.
