On February 17, 2023, an international webinar “The renewed Schengen Information System (SIS): refresher training” was held online, which was joined by Serhii Naumenko, the Chief Forensic Expert of the Questioned Document Examination Department.
The event is organized by the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL).
The purpose of the webinar was to highlight topical issues of the updated Schengen Information System. During the event, participants were introduced to the latest new features in the system and best practices for investigating crimes related to visa violations, as well as items that have been stolen or misappropriated. Today, the system is used by 27 EU countries, among them, in particular, those who are not members of the EU. It should be noted that SIS data is used not only by the police and customs authorities but also by visa institutions, particularly embassies and consulates.
At the end of the webinar, participants received certificates of participation.
