Experts of the Psychological Research Department of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine participated in the Fifth Scientific and Practical Conference of Polygraph examiners “Using the polygraph in Ukraine: combating crime, ensuring personnel safety and helping business”.
The event was initiated by the All-Ukrainian Association of Polygraph Examiners at National University “Odessa Academy of Law”.
The purpose of the Conference is the formation and strengthening of cooperation between polygraph examiners, the exchange of experience and the formation of a solid scientific and practical platform, and the development of the polygraph examiner profession in Ukraine.
The participants listened to reports on the practice of using the polygraph, discussed the question of its use in the field of research, studied the features of conducting relevant forensic psycho physiological examinations and considered examples of work in especially difficult cases.
Yurii Irkhin, the Head of the Psychological Research Department of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise presented to the participants a report on the topic “Features of the methodology and standardization of the use of the polygraph in forensic activities”. Andrii Semenets, the Deputy Head of the Psychological Research Department of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise presented the report on the topic “Using a computer polygraph in forensic psychological examinations.”
The speakers also listened to topics about the experience of disclosure and investigation using polygraph of crimes with special cruelty, certain aspects of audiovisual diagnostics in a pre-test conversation, a polygraph survey as a measure of operational search, etc.
In general, the Conference was held in an open to dialogue atmosphere, accompanied by active discussions of speeches and discussions on topical controversial issues.
