Participation the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise in the webinar of the Ukrainian Expert Working Group on the study of psychoactive substances “EU-Act”

On April 23 and 28, 2020, Larysa Oliinyk, Senior Forensic Expert of the Materials, Substances and Products Research Department of the Criminalistics Laboratory of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, took part in webinar of the Ukrainian Expert Working Group on research of psychoactive substances.

European colleagues Dariusz Zuba and Mario Riсa were experts-moderators of this meeting, who are also members of this EWG.

The main goal of the participants’ work was to discuss the implementation of inter-laboratory exercises – mandatory for the activities required by national accreditation bodies in accordance with the requirements of ISO 17025: 2017 and an objective demonstration of the technical competence of the laboratory.

The work program is based on regulatory documents governing inter-laboratory comparison exercises (ISO 17025 and ISO 13528), international and European practices. A model for evaluating the standard operating procedure was proposed, and the participants of the first exercise analyzed one of the real results.

Inter-laboratory exercises give the opportunity to assess the quality of the tests performed and is an effective tool for diagnosing its quality system.

The speakers spoke about the international standards for the implementation of relevant tasks and the possibility of practical use of their results in laboratory practice as well as it was about the practical aspects of the laboratories.
