On November 10, 2022, the international scientific and practical conference “Topical problems of normative and legal determination of the status of prisoners of war” was held.
The conference was organized jointly by the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Internal Affairs, the Kyiv Regional Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Аcademician Stashis Scientific Research Institute for the Study of Crime Problems, All-Ukrainian public association “Penitentiary Association of Ukraine”. The conference was held online and with the physical presence of participants.
Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, and Oleg Baulin, Head of the Scientific Activity and International Cooperation Department of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, were representatives of the Institute at the international scientific and practical conference “Topical problems of normative and legal determination of the status of prisoners of war”.
The international scientific and practical conference was held in the following thematic directions:
- historical issues of treatment of prisoners of war;
- international norms and standards in the field of treatment of prisoners of war;
- criminal and legal aspects of the responsibility of prisoners of war;
- procedural features of bringing prisoners of war to justice;
- investigation of cases concerning acts committed by prisoners of war;
- the issue of the exchange of prisoners of war ;
- medical care of prisoners of war;
- organization of control over the observance of the rights of prisoners of war;
- organization of protection and supervision of prisoners of war, operational and investigative activities in camps and sectors for these persons;
- issues of organization of activities and creation of necessary conditions of detention in camps and sectors for prisoners of war. relations of prisoners of war with the authorities;
- problems of execution of criminal punishments for prisoners of war in case of criminal liability;
- socio-psychological and psychotherapeutic assistance in the conditions of a camp or sector for prisoners of war.
Based on the results of the conference, a collection of abstracts of reports will be published.
