Participation of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise in the conference “Problems and prospects of development of forensic examination and criminalistics”

Representatives of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Problems and prospects for the development of forensic examination and criminalistics”.

The event was organized by the Odesa Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise in videoconference mode and is dedicated to the memory of Mykola Prokopovych Makarenko, one of the founders and the first head of the Odesa Cabinet of Scientific and Forensic Expertise.

In a welcoming speech, Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, noted that research institutes in Kyiv and Odesa have passed a great historical path of development, modern achievements are based on more than 105 years of expert experience of previous generations. The modern stage of formation of forensic expert activity requires the development of the legislative framework, actualization of scientific and methodological support, development of professional communication and international cooperation, consolidation of efforts in combating crime, as well as constant professional growth of forensic experts.

The relevant opinion was supported and supplemented in their speeches by representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and participants of the conference from foreign countries.

Mychailo Poliennikov, a leading forensic expert of the Economic Research Laboratory of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, presented to the audience a report on the following topic: “Electronic document as a source of evidence in criminal proceedings”.

The participants of the conference discussed the feasibility of making significant changes to the Law of Ukraine “On Forensic Examination”, actual examples on expert practice, issues of classification of research objects, scientific activity of forensic experts and other relevant aspects of various types of forensic examinations.
