Representatives of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine participated in the 14th International Forensic Symposium held in Bratislava, the capital city of the Slovak Republic.
Traditionally, the scientific event was dedicated to the general issues of forensic science and forensic examination as well as facilitating the exchange of knowledge and information between the relevant branches of justice, the police and forensic experts on forensic activities.
This year the meeting was attended by representatives of expert institutions from the USA, India, Ukraine, Poland, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, France, Bulgaria and others.
The work of the participants and the presentation of scientific reports were organized and divided into the following thematic blocks:
Block 1 – Theoretical basis of forensics
Block 2 – General issues of forensic science;
Block 3 – Fingerprinting and portrait examination;
Block 4 – Handwriting and questioned documents examination;
Block 5 – Drugs and psychoactive substances;
Block 6 – Gun Shot Residues and Ballistics Research;
Block 7 – IT examinations
In general, the theme of the event was not chosen by chance and became important for establishing international cooperation and strengthening ties with scientists in the field of forensics.
In addition, an interesting stage in the work of the Symposium was an introduction to modern forensic technology for participants. The largest corporations – manufacturers of expert equipment from the UK and France prepared and presented their exhibition blocks.
