Experts of the Materials, Substances and Products Research Department of the Criminalistics Laboratory of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise on September 8-9, 2020 took part in a webinar on the European Union legislation and profiling synthetic narcotic drugs and other methods in the field of combating drug trafficking. The event took place in the online format within the framework of the EU Action against Drugs and Organized Crime, the project funded by the EC.
Peculiarities of the legislation of the European Union in the field of combating drug trafficking, problems of timely identification of new synthetic psychoactive substances, profiling of narcotic drugs and new psychotropic substances (hereinafter referred to as NPS), and other topical issues common to experts from various countries of the European Union were discussed.
The participants of the event positively assessed the significance of the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine “On some issues of classification of narcotic drugs and substances to analogues of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances” No. 715 dated 03.04.2019, which provides an opportunity for relevant law enforcement agencies to timely counteract the illegal circulation of new synthetic NPS.
The event will strengthen international cooperation between domestic and foreign experts and scientists, will allow timely development of changes to existing legislation in the field of drug trafficking.
