On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Lviv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference was held

On April 26, 2024, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Lviv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “The Impact of Innovations on the Development of Forensic Expertise: from Traditional Methods to Digital Transformation” was held in Lviv. The event was held online and offline. The conference was moderated by Nataliia Khomych, Deputy Director for Research of the Lviv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and Nataliia Senyk, First Deputy Director of the Lviv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.

Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, solemnly congratulated the participants on the anniversary, outlined the long history of the Lviv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, starting from the years of its foundation, and emphasized the importance of its activities.

Tetyana Tamakova, Acting Head of the Psychological Research Laboratory of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, took part in the conference online and presented a report on the problems of research in cases concerning the determination of the approximate amount of compensation for non-pecuniary damage within group (class) actions: the research aspect; and on the impact of innovations on the development of expertise: from traditional methods to digital transformation.

The conference addressed the following topics: economic crimes of accounting personnel, areas of their classification and research; the impact of innovations on the development of linguistic speech examination; the application of machine learning methods in the tasks of forensic railway and transport examination; the prospects for the use of electronic documents in forensic economic examination in the context of digitalization; peculiarities of conducting forensic trace examinations in criminal proceedings on the facts of illegal logging of trees, on information security and modern digital communication; on the possibility of conducting an examination of diagnostic and rehabilitation techniques in the context of copyright; on the peculiarities of psychological examination of victims of juvenile (minor) persons and witnesses of domestic violence; on modern approaches to forensic examination of paper; on the impact of the development of computing technology on forensic economic examination; on the issue of preventing expert mistakes and violations of forensic experts during forensic examinations, etc.
