On the issue of raising the qualifications of experts of forensic institutions of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine

Within the context of the judicial system’s reform of Ukraine, there is an obvious need to increase the requirements for professional and psychological training of workers in various areas of activity. In particular, this also applies to forensic experts, namely employees of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

Professional competence integrates the diverse knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes that an employee in accordance with the requirements of a particular profession. Professional activity in the field of forensic examination requires, from specialists, first of all, a set of relevant professional knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as the formation of certain professionally important personal traits and qualities.

So, in order to raise the level of awareness on the issue of raising the qualifications of forensic experts of forensic institutions of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, representatives of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, namely, Anna Terokhina, Head of the operational and technical department, and Victoriia Andrusenko, Head of the research control and management department became the participants of the training courses.

The event was organized and held on the basis of the Southern Regional Educational and Methodological Office of the Institute of Law and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

The main purpose of the meeting was to update and develop the knowledge and skills of specialists necessary for the effective solution of the tasks of professional forensic expertise.

The topic of the course was the organization of work of the leading experts of expert institutions of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the advanced training of forensic experts on theoretical, organizational and procedural issues.

During the lectures and seminars, participants discussed the following issues:

  • Conduct of office work (document circulation) in expert institutions of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine;
  • Appointment and conducting of forensic examinations taking into account changes in procedural (civil, economic, administrative) legislation;
  • Legal status of a forensic expert (taking into account the latest in the legislation on the protection of a forensic expert);
  • Psychology of effective interaction in a court (stresses and conflicts in management).
