On the basis of the Vinnitsa Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine was held a training and practical workshop for experts in the field of questioned document examination.
The speakers demonstrated to the audience the possibilities of using the Foster + Freemen VSC 80 video spectrometer comparator in the first part of the workshop. The comparator was purchased for experts of the Vinnytsia Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.
The VSC 80 combines advanced optical expansion and various lighting to analyze and compare handwritten text, signatures, photocopies, printed documents, banknotes, checks, identification documents, including passports, ID cards, and driver’s licenses. High-quality images, an expanded set of light sources and powerful software help experts conduct research, simplify tasks and increase work efficiency.

Victoriia Kulykovska, head of the Questioned Document Examination Department was a chairperson of the workshop and participants expressed their views on research methods and techniques, use of expert information databases, registration of research results, etc.
Summing up, it is worth noting that the participants managed to gain new theoretical and practical knowledge, discuss a wide range of important issues on the implementation of expert activities, and improve their own skills.
