On April 7, 2021, on the 80th anniversary of the military operations of the Kyiv Defense Operation (the more known as the Battle of Uman), the all-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference «Forensic research in expert search practice» was held.
The event was organized by the Law Faculty of the National Aviation University, in cooperation with the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. The other co-organizers were as follows: Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, AYUR-CONSULTING Law Firm, Green Search Detachment Charitable Organization Kirovohrad Obalst and Tarashcha Technical and Economic and Legal Vocational College.
Petro Bilenchuk , Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the National Aviation University, Candidate of Law, and Associate Professor was the moderator of the scientific-practical conference.
The Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise was represented by Viktor Koloniuk, Scientific Secretary of the Institute, Candidate of Juridical Sciences, Associate Professor and Oleksandr Zherebko , Head of the Department of Regulatory and Methodological Activities and Standardization, Candidate of Juridical Sciences.
The main topic of discussion during the conference was the presentation of forensic scientist Leonid Sydorenko «The use of forensic methodologies in the comprehensive study of soldier medallions, documents and other objects of World War II». He pointed out the use of methods, modern technical means and specialized data banks for the technical examination of historical documents, as well as presented the results of an expert study to establish the facts of the history of Ukraine in the period 1941 - 1945.
In addition, listeners and participants of the conference were students of 1-3 courses of the educational and scientific forensic laboratory together with members of the scientific circle «Forensics» of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Law Faculty of the National Aviation University as well as students of Tarashcha Technical and Economic and Legal Vocational College.
At the end of the all-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference, it was proposed to involve more forensic experts, anthropologists and archivists for further cooperation in this area.
