Every year on August 29, Ukraine marks the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. This day was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine on August 23, 2019, to commemorate the heroism of servicemen and volunteers who gave their lives for their homeland, as a reminder of one of the bloodiest events of the war in eastern Ukraine – the Ilovaisk tragedy.
Today, on the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, we honor the memory of courageous and brave defenders who gave their lives in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
We are grateful to those who have been defending our homeland since 2014 and continue to do so, and who, unfortunately, will not see the Victory, but did everything to bring it closer.
We thank you for your heroism, dedication, strength, courage and steadfastness.
