On September 30, 2021, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime organized an online webinar. Larysa Oliynyk, a Senior Forensic Expert of the Materials, Substances and Products Research Department, was a representative of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise at the event.

The topic of the webinar is “Countering the spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic drugs through cyberspace” This topic has become extremely relevant today, because organized crime, thanks to the use of modern information technology, has the opportunity in a very short time to establish the sale of drugs.

During the event, webinar participants were provided with detailed information on the channels through which organized crime has the opportunity to establish drug trafficking. First of all, the so-called Darknet (Onion-network) is used, such anonymous messengers as Telegram, Signal, XMPP (Jabber). Payment methods that allow criminals to remain anonymous were also considered. These are recently popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Monero, Smart Cash.
