On May 31, 2023, an international scientific and practical conference “Topical issues of criminal proceedings in modern conditions” was held on the basis of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs. The conference was held in a mixed format: both with the physical presence of participants and using the ZOOM platform.
The purpose of the conference was primarily to discuss the theoretical and practical problems of criminal proceedings in modern conditions, and to summarize the scientific and practical experience in order to solve them. In particular, the participants focused their reports on topical issues of the theory of criminal procedure, criminal proceedings under emergency legal regimes, harmonization of national criminal procedural legislation with the legislation of the European Union, topical issues of evidence and proof, ensuring the effectiveness of pre-trial investigation and trial in modern conditions, the evolution of the criminal process in the information society, etc.
Oleg Baulin, Head of the Scientific Activity and International Cooperation Department of the Laboratory of Organization of Scientific, Methodological Activities, Regulatory Support and International Cooperation of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise took part and presented the report “Topical issues involving foreign specialists in the examination during the pre-trial investigation”, which highlighted an important topic of involving foreign specialists in the process of pre-trial investigation and examination, and He also stressed the importance of regulating legal and organizational aspects to ensure effective cooperation with foreign experts.
The International Scientific and Practical Conference is of great practical importance, as it brought together scientists and practitioners from different countries to discuss topical issues of criminal proceedings in modern conditions. The event provided a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience and ideas, contributing to expanding the horizons of understanding and practical application of modern methods of criminal proceedings.
