On November 01, 2023, the III International Scientific and Practical Conference “Integration of Theory into Practice: Problems, Searches, Prospects under Martial Law” was held online, organized by the Penitentiary Academy of Ukraine of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. The event was moderated by Vyacheslav Puzyrynnyi, Doctor of Law, Professor, Vice-Rector of the Penitentiary Academy of Ukraine for Educational and Scientific Work.
The conference was attended by scholars and representatives of foreign and Ukrainian organizations, in particular: Director of Special Collections and Exhibits, Associate Professor of the Research Library at Murray State University (USA), PhD in History, Dr. Sean Jeff McLaughlin; Master of Pedagogy, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Resocialization, College of Justice, Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (Republic of Estonia) Silvia Luige; Criminal Defense Attorney of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Laws from the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research (IDP), Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Criminal Law at the University Center of Brazil-DF (UniCEUB), and others.
Oleh Baulin, PhD in Law, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Scientific and Regulatory and Methodological Activities of the Laboratory for the Organization of Scientific, Methodological Activities, Regulatory Support, International Cooperation and Expert Training of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, participated in the presentation “Current Issues of Protection of the Rights of Prisoners during Pre-trial Investigation”.
During the conference, the participants discussed the problems in the penitentiary system and ways to solve them, raised questions about: open foreign resources for Ukrainian scientists working under martial law on topics related to law and sociology; training of penitentiary workers; modern challenges of applying human rights principles; teaching ethics in prison; psychological factors of the formation of the personality of a collaborator in wartime; pedagogical techniques of a modern teacher of a higher education institution; emotional intelligence of adolescents; restoration of Ukraine’s environment, etc.
