On December 07 and 08, 2023, the National Academy of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine held the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Implementation of State Anti-Corruption Policy in the International Dimension”, which was dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day.
Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, delivered a welcoming speech in which he emphasized the importance of assisting Ukraine in countering the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
Other speakers included at the event were Bohdan Drapyatyi, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Holmbo Rolfe, Head of the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine, Oleksandr Bandurka, First Vice President of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Karen McTeer, Head of the NATO Representation to Ukraine, Serhiy Ionushas, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement, Vira Mykhailenko, Head of the High Anti-Corruption Court, Oleksandr Marchuk, Head of the Criminal Court of Cassation within the Supreme Court, Volodymyr Martynenko, Head of the NGO Center for Prevention and Combating Corruption and others.
The conference was attended by international partners of Ukraine, units of the Verkhovna Rada and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the State Migration Service of Ukraine, the Main Service Center, units of the National Police of Ukraine, judicial authorities, non-governmental organizations, research and forensic institutions, higher education institutions and other state institutions. Oleh Baulin, Head of the Department of Scientific Activities and International Cooperation of the Laboratory of Organization of Scientific, Methodological Activities, Regulatory Support, International Cooperation and Expert Training of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise also joined the event.
Today, corruption is one of the factors that threatens national security, undermines trust in public authorities, and negatively affects the country’s image in the international community. Therefore, Ukrainians should strive to eradicate corruption with the involvement of all state authorities, local governments, civil society institutions and the media.
The current challenges and threats facing our society make it imperative to strengthen measures to prevent and combat corruption, coordinated and systematic anti-corruption activities in all areas, and consistent implementation of the principle of integrity for employees of all structures.
As part of the event, draft recommendations for state institutions to amend laws and regulations and implement measures aimed at improving Ukraine’s anti-corruption policy in the international dimension were prepared and discussed.
