On September 14-15, 2023, the Forum of Forensic Experts was held in Europol (The Hague, the Netherlands), which was attended by Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and Tetiana Kryvak, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Training of Experts.
The European Police Office (Europol) is a law enforcement agency of the European Union; it collects information on criminal offenses.
Europol works in all areas of its mandate, namely: illegal drug trafficking; illegal immigration networks; terrorism, illegal motor vehicle trafficking, human trafficking and child pornography, money and other means of payment counterfeiting, money laundering.
In addition, Europol’s priority areas of research include crimes against the person, financial crimes and cybercrime.
Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise is the first and only Ukrainian forensic organization to be officially invited to join Europol.
The forum brought together more than 100 representatives of European police. Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, presented the forensic community of Ukraine through the prism of the activities of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise with the topic of the report: “Peculiarities of conducting computer and technical expertise in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine”. During her speech, Nataliia Nestor emphasized the peculiarities of conducting examinations during the war, their role in the proceedings as one of the evidences. In total, 18 representatives were invited to participate in the event, and their reports were presented in a “restricted access” mode only for police representatives who were officially invited.
