On October 31, 2023, at the invitation of Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director, an official delegation from the Government of the United States of America arrived at KFI.

The delegation included: representatives of The United States Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Commerce and FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize themselves with the activities of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and to further cooperate in the field of forensic science.

On the Ukrainian side, the meeting was attended by Andrii Haichenko, Deputy Minister of Justice, Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, and Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.

“Unfortunately, we still have to find fragments of various types of weapons, including fragments of missiles and drones containing foreign components, both in the places where civilians and the military are staying,” said Andriy Haichenko.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the challenges faced by conducting forensic examinations in Ukraine due to russia’s military aggression.

“The experts of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise identify every detail of the missile and drone wreckage and identify the country of manufacture of these components, which are dual-use goods and are supplied to russia in violation of sanctions,” Oleksandr Ruvin noted.

Nataliia Nestor thanked the government representatives for responding to her invitation and for their support of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and the country in Ukraine’s fight against russian aggression.
