Despite the restrictions on the implementation of some EU projects due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, experts in handwriting research and technical examination of documents from Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise held a seminar with the support of the EU.

On February 01 and 02, 2024, a TAIEX workshop on handwriting, signatures and electronic signatures was held.

The purpose of the seminar, which was designed specifically for the forensic handwriting experts of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, was to provide participants with specialized knowledge of advanced techniques and practical skills necessary to succeed in this field.

Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise opened the event with introductory remarks.

The event was attended by experts from Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and all branches of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, as well as foreign partners and fellow experts.

The seminar addressed the following issues: modern methods of handwriting analysis; detection of forgery and falsification of documents; legal aspects of handwriting analysis; recent developments in forensic science; electronic signatures and digital forensics; integration of handwriting and digital analysis; quality assurance and error management. There were also some practical exercises on working with digital signatures.

The training event improved the participants’ understanding of handwriting analysis, signature examination and electronic signature verification, and familiarized them with the principles of digital forensics and electronic signature examination.

The event provided an opportunity to exchange experience and information in order to build the institutional capacity necessary to adapt national legislation to the acquis communautaire in terms of forensic activities.

We thank our foreign partners and the EU for supporting our experts.

Our strength is in unity!
