The Scientific Research Institutes of Forensic Expertise of Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa and Kharkiv received modern Artec Leo portable wireless scanners. Equipment for colleagues from other cities was transferred by the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise. Such scanners will make it possible to ensure even greater efficiency in the proper recording of crimes committed by russia in Ukraine.
In November last year, as part of the institute’s support, Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, received 30 Artec Leo scanners (worth more than UAH 1.3 million), as well as high-precision calibration kits 5-year licenses for Artec Studio software for processing and analyzing the received 3D data from the Ministry of Defense of Luxembourg. Now specialists from four more scientific research institutes of forensic expertise in Ukraine will be able to work on this modern high-precision equipment.
“Modern equipment will allow Ukrainian experts to create high-precision 3D models of objects and digital copies of all available evidence for international courts. Potential applications of these 3D models include damage assessment, bloodstain pattern analysis, bullet trajectory reports, autopsy documentation, virtual reality (VR) presentations, 3D-printed evidence, and much more,” explained Andrii Haichenko, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
