On August 23, 2021, Ukraine celebrates a national holiday, National Flag Day. According to the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of January 28, 1991, No. 2067 – XII, the State Flag of Ukraine is a flag of two equal horizontal stripes of blue and yellow. The ratio of the width of the flag to its length is 2:3.
The modern Ukrainian blue-yellow color combination is one of the oldest among the modern national flags. It comes from the coat of arms of the Halych–Volhynia Principality: a golden lion on a blue background, which appeared in the second half of the XIII century.
From ancient times to the present, the blue-yellow flag symbolizes an independent and sovereign Ukrainian state. The combination of these two colors embodies the desire for peace and honest work, the beauty of nature, and the richness of our land.
The flag of Ukraine is a symbol of our national unity, honor and dignity, it unites generations of people who lived, and live on our land from ancient times to the present.
On this wonderful day, the staff of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise congratulates everyone on a wonderful holiday; we wish peace and prosperity to each of you!
