Mykhailo Poliennikov, Leading Forensic Expert of the Department of Research on Financial and Credit Operations and Economic Activities of Enterprises of the Laboratory of Economic Research of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, took part in the 7th International Conference on Criminal Finance and Cryptocurrencies, organized by Europol and the Basel Institute on Governance, which was held on October 26-27, 2023 in The Hague (the Netherlands).
The annual conference is an initiative of Europol and the Basel Institute on Governance through the joint Working Group on Criminal Finances and Cryptocurrencies, officially established in 2016.
The conference aimed to bring together representatives, experts and financial investigators from both the public and private sectors, as well as to create an international network of experts in the field of money laundering and cryptocurrencies, to establish best practices, provide assistance and guidance in the rapidly developing field of crypto assets.
During this two-day event, participants had the opportunity to participate in discussion panels and view presentations on the seizure and confiscation of cryptocurrencies, the misuse of cryptocurrencies by criminals, and procedures for identifying such assets.
As a result of the event, the participants gained theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of cryptoasset transactions.
