The internal seminar “Ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language in the context of changes in the current legislation” was held at Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
The participants were heads of expert laboratories, departments and sectors of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.
In the opening remarks, Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, once again informed the audience that on July 16, 2019, the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of Ukrainian as a State Language” entered into force (except for certain provisions) and therefore there are some changes in legislation and how the Ukrainian language should be used during the performance of official duties, in the work of institutions and enterprises, etc.
The main provisions of the Law relating to employees of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise were told by Svitlana Dolynkivska, Head of the linguistic research sector, and Dmytro Kalnoi, Head of the regulatory support department.
The reports of the speakers dealt with the general principles of the Law, some aspects of the implementation of its norms, the obligation to possess the state language, the status of the Ukrainian language, the language of citizenship, the use of the Ukrainian language in the performance of official duties, the working language in public institutions and enterprises, the terms of implementation deferred norms and so on.
