Experts of the Kyiv Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine became participants in the international scientific and practical round table “Expert support for the investigation of the facts of collaboration activities”, which was held on June 23, 2022, by the Ukrainian Scientific and Research Institute of Special Equipment and Forensic Expertise of the SSU. The event was held in an online format.
The participants of the round table from the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise were:
- Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of the Institute;
- Yurii Irhin, Head of the Psychological Research Department;
- Svitlana Dolynkivska, Head of the Linguistic Speech Research Sector.
During the work, a wide range of topical issues of appointment and conduct of forensic examinations on the facts of collaboration activities, and the use of expert opinions in the pre-trial investigation of crimes were discussed. In particular, the experts focused on discussing the concepts of collaboration, and the capabilities of forensic examination in proving the facts of collaboration activities. The experts also considered the methodological features of forensic linguistic examinations in criminal proceedings on the facts of collaboration activities and drew attention to the problematic aspects of the legal assessment of experts’ conclusions in the proceedings of this category.
Since Ukraine has strengthened responsibility for collaboration activities at the legislative level, today scientific and practical measures with coverage of relevant issues are extremely urgent in forensic expert activities.
