On August 26, 2021, the Cherkasy District Prosecutor’s Office hosted a training seminar on “Problematic issues of appointment and conduct of forensic examinations in criminal proceedings”. The event was held with the participation of representatives of the Cherkasy Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.
Opening the event, Andrii Zamotailo, the head of the Prosecutor’s Office noted that forensic examination is the most important procedural form of using special knowledge in criminal proceedings, as a result of which the investigation and court have new information that has an evidentiary value that cannot be obtained by other means.
Antonina Yefimenko, Head of the Cherkasy Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, acquainted the audience with the possibilities of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and outlined the main directions of forensic examinations. She also underlined possible forms of cooperation that arise during the appointment and conduct of forensic examinations in all areas of its activities.
During the event, practical recommendations on the preparation and appointment of forensic examinations were considered. The most common mistakes made during the appointment of forensic examinations were pointed and discussed.
In the course of the dialogue between the participants, issues were discussed regarding the procedure for appointment and conduct of examination, submission of the necessary documents and materials for examination, selection of the necessary samples, and presentation of the object of study.
