Representatives of the Phonoscopic, Computer-technical and Telecommunication Research Department of KFI, namely, senior forensic expert Vladyslav Smirnov and Inna Zhmurko, forensic expert, became the participants at the 20th annual meeting of the FSAAWG of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutions (ENFSI).
The work of the group was held for two days in the capital of the Republic of Latvia, the city of Riga.
The scientific and practical event brought together more than 40 forensic experts, including representatives from Ukraine, Russia, Kosovo, Poland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and others.
Participants’ reports during the session of the first working day covered the theoretical issues of analyzing the authenticity analysis of audio recordings stored in the files using the ISO 14496-12 standard; systems of expert examination of materials and equipment using modern software; speech recognition of the electronically disguised voice; the difference between spontaneous or read speech; forensic audio analysis of lossy compression artifacts for Apple iPhone voice memo recordings, etc.
Experts of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise presented information materials concerning the work of their Department and outlined the methodology of work of Ukrainian specialists on previously discussed issues.
After the presentation of the historical reference of the ENFSI Forensic Speech and Audio Analysis Working Group, the second working day was devoted to the consideration of practical moments of the work of experts.
The experts of KFI noted the high level of the organization of the meeting, established communication with colleagues from foreign departments, and also received positive responses from qualified international experts about Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise.
At the end of the meeting the participants were awarded with certificates.
