Anna Stromylo, the expert of the Cherkasy branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, took part in a training and methodological seminar at the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office on the topic “Peculiarities of pre-trial investigation and procedural guidance in criminal proceedings on criminal offences committed with and against children, including using the best international practices of child-friendly justice”. The training and methodological seminar took place on June 16, 2023.
In order to ensure the effective implementation of existing mandatory universal and European standards for the protection and enforcement of children’s rights, as well as compliance with the requirements of international law, in particular, the guidelines of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on child-friendly justice, in the pre-trial investigation and consideration in court of criminal proceedings involving children, the execution of court decisions.
The seminar was attended by employees of the Department for Protection of Children’s Interests and Combating Violence of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, juvenile prosecutors of district prosecutor’s offices invited representatives of the National Police in Cherkasy region, investigators and investigators of territorial police departments authorized to investigate criminal offences committed by minors and with the participation of children.
Particular attention was paid to the speech of forensic expert Anna Stromylo, who, revealing the topic “Study of the impact of violence against minors in forensic psychological examination”, discussed in detail with the participants of the educational and methodological seminar the peculiarities of mental state, physical development and behaviour of minors who are victims, witnesses of domestic violence, which allows establishing psychological violence. In her presentation, the expert focused on conducting forensic psychological examinations in criminal proceedings for crimes against the sexual integrity of minors.
