On June 25, 2024, Anna Stromylo, an expert of the Cherkasy Branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, took part in a meeting of the heads of prosecutor’s offices and state authorities of the Cherkasy region on the topic: “Status of the implementation of the pilot project on the implementation of international standards of child-friendly justice in the region”.
The participants discussed jointly developed methods and measures taken to improve the crime situation among adolescents and combat crimes against children. The participants analyzed the mechanisms for overcoming the problematic issues that existed at the beginning of the project, and identified further vectors of joint work to achieve positive results.
It was noted that by ensuring effective interaction between the project participants, where each body and each institution became integral parts of a holistic mechanism for observing the rights of minors, significant positive changes in this area of activity were achieved. As a result of the working group meeting, the participants agreed on the main aspects of further cooperation, identified algorithms for improving approaches to pre-trial investigation and trial of criminal proceedings involving children, in particular through the prompt formation of “multi-groups” of specialists, which ensures a quick determination of the objective circumstances of criminal offenses and allows for the adoption of final decisions in criminal proceedings of this category as soon as possible.
