Inna Holova, the Head of the Department of Commodity Research and Research of Intellectual Property Object, took part, as an expert, in the conference “Theory and practice of forensic expertise in the field of Intellectual property in the era of reforms”.
The event was held with the participation of the heads of law firms and lawyers’ associations, leading lawyers, advocates, judges, government officials and national scholars.
In the conference there have been discussed the role of forensic expertise in the field of intellectual property in the context of judicial reform and the creation of a specialized court on intellectual property issues. A separate session was devoted to forensic expertise of inventions and utility models, as well as trade marks in the field of pharmaceuticals. The final session concerns the amount assessing of damage as a result of misuse of intellectual property objects, etc.
According to the participants, such meetings are developing a fruitful public-private partnership in the field of intellectual property rights protection through the use of forensic expertise. It was noted that the entry into force on September 1, 2017 of the Ukraine-European Union Association Agreement, the formation by the Decree of the President of Ukraine of the Supreme Court of Intellectual Property and the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Code of Commercial Procedure of Ukraine, the Code of Civil Procedure of Ukraine, the Code of Administrative Judicial Proceedings of Ukraine and other legislative acts”, which open up new prospects for the development of forensic expertise in the field of intellectual property. This, in turn, leads to the need for consolidation of science and practice in the field of intellectual property rights protection.
