CEPOL Exchange Program 2019: Ukraine-Slovakia

International work and cooperation is one of the priorities of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. In its activities KFI pursues a policy of approaching European and international standards in the field of forensic expert activities to ensure justice, in today’s conditions is extremely important and relevant.

One of the key achievements in this area was the current participation of experts from Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise in the international CEPOL Exchange Program 2019.

After the completion of the project with the colleagues of the National Bureau of Expertise of the Republic of Armenia, a new stage of the program implementation and a two-way exchange began with Slovak specialists.

The program participants were Oleksandr Shmereho, Head of the department of research on life safety, fire and electrical engineering at Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, and Michal Juhas, expert in fire engineering and electrical engineering research at Institute of Forensic Science, Košice, Slovakia.

The experts had an opportunity to get acquainted with the structure and procedure of the institutions represented, to compare working methods, to find common and distinct problem issues, as well as to try to practice in foreign expert groups.

The possibility of cooperation in the scientific field was discussed separately, in particular, the holding of joint international training seminars, round tables, conferences and seminars.

A pleasant addition to the program of staying a foreign colleague in Ukraine was a visit to the Cherkassy Institute of Fire Safety and a meeting with the head of the institution, Oleksandr Tyshchenko, who personally told the guests about the life of the institute.

During the meeting, the guests were presented with modern classrooms, a gas and gas-dyed service, a training fire and rescue unit, a museum and a sports complex, as well as the work of search rescue dogs.

Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise will continue active development of international cooperation in the future.
