On 08 January 2025, a roundtable discussion was held at the Main Department of the National Police in Kirovohrad region to discuss the interaction of expert institutions and pre-trial investigation bodies in the implementation of the pilot project ‘Implementation of International Standards of Child-Friendly Justice in Practice’, which was jointly conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
From the KFI the event was attended by Kostiantyn Lagoda, Head of the Kropyvnytskyi Branch and Tetiana Litvinova, Senior Forensic Expert. The event was also attended by representatives of the Investigation Department of the Main Department of the National Police in Kirovohrad region, the Kirovohrad Regional Prosecutor’s Office and the Kirovohrad Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
During the discussions, Kostiantyn Lagoda informed the participants about the possibilities of implementing joint activities, focused on the timing of forensic psychological examinations and provided practical advice to improve the effectiveness of this project, and Tetiana Litvinova reported on the specifics of conducting forensic examinations in cases where witnesses or victims are minors.
The roundtable participants developed areas for further cooperation in the implementation of this project, outlining in detail the algorithms of interaction between the authorized bodies in order to comply with international requirements for ensuring support for children and protection of their rights at all stages of interaction with the justice system.
