On December 11, 2024, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine held the Second National Conference on Preventing and Combating Illicit Trafficking in Arms, Ammunition and Explosives in Ukraine.
The main issues raised at the panel discussions were national perspectives on challenges and solutions to respond to the risks posed by illicit trafficking and use of weapons, ammunition and explosives in the context of the military aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine; the response of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies to this problem; and the prospects for the international community to participate in strengthening Ukraine’s capacity to prevent and combat illicit trafficking in weapons, ammunition and explosives.
The conference was attended by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Oleksiy Serheyev, Head of the EU Advisory Mission Ukraine Rolf Holmbo, the Deputy Director of the Conflict Prevention Center of the OSCE Secretariat Sean DeCalvo, the Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ihor Mustetsa and others.
The delegation of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine was represented by Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and Tymur Tsapko, Head of the Criminalistics Laboratory.
