On November 29, 2024, Senior Research Fellow of the Economic Research Laboratory Mykhailo Poliennikov took part in the final meeting of the group of developers of the training course for judges “Compensation for Damage Caused by the russian federation in the Process of Armed Aggression to Citizens and Legal Entities in Ukraine”, organized by the National School of Judges of Ukraine in cooperation with the Council of Europe projects “Strengthening Judicial and Non-Judicial Remedies for the Protection of the Rights of Victims of War in Ukraine” and “Support to the Judiciary of Ukraine in the Context of War and Post-War Period”.

The working group meeting was chaired by Natalia Shuklina, Vice-Rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, and moderated by Maksym Khodakivskyi, co-chair of the group and judge of the Zhovtnevyi District Court of Dnipropetrovs’k.

At the meeting, Mykhailo Poyennikov revealed approaches to obtaining and assessing the evidence base regarding the amount of damage and scope of losses caused by the armed aggression of the russian federation. During discussions and presentations, other participants highlighted current challenges in obtaining the necessary evidence to compensate for the damage caused by the russian federation during the armed aggression of the russian federation to individuals and legal entities in Ukraine.
