At the invitation of the Government of Japan (the third largest donor of financial assistance to Ukraine), Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of the KFI, visited government agencies (ministries and departments) of Japan and got acquainted with the forensic system of Japan, as well as received appropriate training. Meetings were held in Tokyo, Kyoto, Sendai and 4 prefectures of Japan.

During the visit, meetings were held with representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Japan; Ministry of Defense of Japan; Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, with whom they discussed urgent issues of cooperation, in particular, electronic components and mechanical components of Japanese-made devices used by the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation for the production of weapons and military equipment (in particular, attack UAVs and missiles).

The events were held at the National Institute of Forensic Science, which is the country’s main expert center that conducts research and develops new methods of examination, Metropolitan Police Department Headquarters, Miyagi Prefectural Police HQ (criminal identification), forensic laboratories of prefectures that are part of local police departments and perform examinations at crime scenes (in particular, analyze physical evidence).

During the visit, Ms. Nestor visited the JAPAN INTERNATIONAL AEROSPACE EXHIBITION 2024, which takes place every 6 years, demonstrating the latest achievements of Japan and international companies related to aerospace, defense and air transport (the first flying car; modern drones and missiles; the world’s only sixth-generation stealth fighter, the Japanese F-2A, etc.

During the visit, meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Japan; Ministry of Defense of Japan; Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan were held, during which they discussed urgent issues of cooperation, in particular, electronic components and mechanical components of Japanese-made devices used by the military-industrial complex of the russian federation for the production of weapons and military equipment (such as attack UAVs and missiles).

Invaluable practical experience in the organization and practical work in the field of forensic science was gained.
