On October 23-25, 2024, the 10th international conference CSI KOREA 2024 “Forensic Science, the Meeting of Man and Artificial Intelligence: Focusing on Expectations and Threats” was held in Incheon (Korea).

The conference was attended by many prominent experts, investigators and forensic scientists who exchanged views on problematic issues of forensic science. Nataliia Nestor, Deputy Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, in particular, took part in the event online.

The participants discussed the following topics: digital fraud (fake evidence and artificial intelligence); forensic anthropology in the United States and in the FBI laboratory (current state and latest technologies); forensic entomology (opportunities to increase accuracy, reliability and significance); digital artificial intelligence technology as a system of assistance in investigations and providing conclusions; innovations in the analysis of road accidents (data archiving and an artificial intelligence-based analysis system); application of pixel tracking using macroblocks in forensic video analysis; crime scene reconstruction using shadow images; trends in legal technologies for criminal investigations (evidence collection and reliability of testimony of minors); effectiveness of voice analysis by artificial intelligence to prevent voice phishing; detection of terrorist intentions by analyzing time series of facial expressions (an artificial intelligence-based approach), and others.

The international conference was hosted by CSI KOREA, a reputable forensic institution due to its international accreditation as a certified testing center, cooperation with Interpol, and interaction with the world’s leading academic communities.
