KSRIFE at the forefront of digital forensics: participation in the DIWG (ENFSI) international working group, Wiesbaden, Germany
Participation in ENFSI working group meetings contributes to raising the professional level of Ukrainian experts and strengthens Ukraine's position in the field of digital evidence at the international level.
On 16–18 September 2025, a meeting of the Digital Image Working Group (DIWG) of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) was held in Wiesbaden (Germany). The event was attended by experts of KSRIFE Vladyslav Smirnov and Andrii Pereidenko.
The event brought together representatives of law enforcement agencies, expert institutions, scientific institutes and commercial structures from around the world. The discussions focused on the latest international approaches in the field of digital forensics and the real challenges facing experts today.
Key topics included:
· artificial intelligence and forensics – testing systems for detecting AI-generated images, algorithms for analysing multimodal digital evidence, and issues of their compliance with future requirements;
· new Amped Software tools for detecting fake photos and videos;
· 3D reconstructions of traffic accidents and LIDAR drones – establishing the relative positions of participants, determining visibility, calculating the volumes of objects;
· Multispectral imaging – searching for hidden information and classifying objects;
· Identifying individuals using new parameters – facial recognition, hand image analysis, forensic gait analysis.
KSRIFE`s experts established new contacts with colleagues from the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Norway, Australia, Morocco and other countries. The knowledge gained and further cooperation will make it possible to update the scientific and methodological basis for conducting expertise in Ukraine and to use the institute's modern equipment even more effectively.
